Here is a news report about the
current problem of a rodent invasion that is making life miserable for the
citizens of Jammu in Kashmir. They are also inevitably still struggling with a
“stray dog menace” which is continually increasing with no end in sight. The
rats have
apparently “invaded every lane and drain and are causing nuisance to the
inhabitants besides damaging the foundations of the buildings".
The real problem here seems to be the fact
that nowhere in the report is there any hint of a suggestion about why there
are so many rats and dogs in the city. If people really see the problem as the
animals themselves then they will never find a solution and the unwanted
animals will always be there causing a nuisance.
There are no specific details to be certain
here but the chances are that, just like in many other Indian cities, poor
waste disposal is the underlying problem supporting high dog and rat
populations. That is what needs tackling far more than the animals themselves.
